Spread-a-Bale launches Micro ST for pig sector
Spread-a-Bale will be launching at Pig & Poultry Fair a new option to its M range of straw spreading machines with 1t to 2t lift capacity loaders – Front-end, Hoff and Skid-Steer, and designed for bedding pig arcs and buildings with narrow access points.
Called the Micro ST (Side Throw), the machine combines a 695kg lightweight steel chassis and bracketing system, and measures 1.78m wide. The header features a single vertical rotor availing side discharge of straw either to the left, to the right or forwards facilitated by the turn of a valve and canopy.
The machine spreads 5’ round straw bales or half a rectangular bale, offers a longitudinal spread pattern of 0.8m wide and up to 8m throw with minimum dust.
Spread-a-Bale’s Michael Hughes explains: “The Micro ST is particularly appealing to owners of 1t capacity loaders with arcs and accommodation featuring narrow access doors and passageways from 2m wide.
“The machine will provide pig producers with an opportunity to mechanise their straw spreading operations without the dust generated by a turbine chopper machine and subsequently reduce the risk of health issues. In addition, the Micro ST will save up to 75% labour and up to 50% straw over manual spreading whilst operators are able to remain outside their arcs and pens.”
The Micro ST is available from Spread-a-Bale’s dealer network; see www.spread-a-bale.com
