Janet Hughes, Farming and Countryside Programme Director, DEFRA.

Janet is director of the farming reform programme in Defra, making farming policies and schemes work for farmers and delivering ambitious outcomes for food, farming and the environment. Janet has been in this role for 4 years. Before that she’s had a career in and around the public sector, leading teams to get difficult things done in ways that genuinely work for people including in education, health, the Government Digital Service and London city government.
