Intemax Launches BAFASAL® in the UK: A Next-Generation Solution for Salmonella Control in Poultry

Intemax is pleased to announce the UK availability of BAFASAL®, the European Union’s first registered bacteriophage-based feed additive designed to target Salmonella in poultry production.

Using advanced bacteriophage technology, BAFASAL® specifically targets harmful Salmonella strains including Enteritidis and Typhimurium, while studies also demonstrate high efficacy against Gallinarum and Infantis. Unlike traditional approaches, bacteriophages selectively eliminate harmful bacteria without disrupting beneficial gut flora.

Salmonella remains one of the poultry industry’s most significant challenges, impacting flock health, bird performance and processing plant efficiency. BAFASAL® offers producers a targeted, antibiotic-free tool to support biosecurity, improve gut health and enhance food safety outcomes throughout the production chain.

“BAFASAL® represents a major step forward in precision bacterial control for poultry producers,” said Jim Cuckson, CEO at Intemax. “Its targeted mode of action helps producers tackle Salmonella effectively while supporting sustainable production practices.”

Now available in the UK exclusively through Intemax, BAFASAL® provides poultry producers with an innovative new approach to Salmonella management.
