ProtonDx to Showcase Award-Winning Dragonfly™ Diagnostic Platform at British Pig & Poultry Fair
ProtonDx will unveil its award-winning Dragonfly™ rapid diagnostic platform at the New Product Launch showcase during the British Pig & Poultry Fair, held at the NEC, Birmingham, on May 13-14, 2026.
The Dragonfly™ platform provides rapid, on-farm PCR-quality results for diseases such as Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSV) and swine flu in under 40 minutes. It removes lengthy lab wait times for pathogen detection, enabling veterinarians and farmers to act on results immediately.
This launch coincides with new regulatory momentum aimed at improving animal health and welfare. DEFRA is consulting on mandating annual veterinary visits and diagnostic testing for PRRSV, and Dragonfly™ directly enables compliance with emerging requirements in a timely, cost-effective manner.
The entry into the New Product Launch showcase follows a time of considerable advances for ProtonDx, an Imperial College London spinout.
As the winner of the 2025 Tesco Agri T-Jam, ProtonDx is setting up Dragonfly™ trials within the Tesco producer network within the UK.
In addition, a three-phase study with Emerald Veterinary Health is underway to test Dragonfly™ on UK pig farms and demonstrate its reliability.
As well as developing diagnostics for the poultry sector to offer a full biosecurity toolkit, ProtonDx is also developing its next-gen Lacewing technology to detect complex respiratory infections such as PRRSV and Porcine Respiratory Disease Complex (PRDC) with Innovate UK support.
Lacewing is being developed through the IMPACT-Farm Alliance partnership, which includes ProtonDx and partners such as Imperial College London, the Imperial Dyson School of Engineering, CEVA, Pilgrim’s Europe, and the UK Agri-Tech Centre.
“We’re looking forward to showing the UK agricultural community how Dragonfly™ makes the on-farm detection and management of porcine lung diseases quick, cheap and accurate,” said Nick Moser, CTO of ProtonDx.
“Dragonfly™ will enable the agricultural industry to use vaccines and antimicrobials in a more effective, precise way, helping farmers reduce production costs whilst ensuring the supply of high-quality products to the consumer.”
