Shane McAuliffe, McAuliffe Farms (Wed)

Shane is a third generation Irish pig and beef farmer with an academic background in pig health and welfare. McAuliffe Farms consists of 4 modern high health farms compromising 2000 sows farrow-to-finish, including Ireland's first loose lactation farm. Shane is passionate about engaging with the public to show how livestock production systems align with the Sustainable Development Goals. With a strong focus on on-farm R&D, he also works part-time as a lecturer, consultant and PhD researcher. Shane is also Chairperson of Bóthar, the Irish NGO that enables families and communities in the Global South to overcome hunger and poverty through improved livestock production.
