Rob Hodgkins, Livestock Farmer (Wed)

Rob started his sheep business in Hertfordshire with his wife Jo in 2013 with 200 cull ewes, horsebox dog and a quad he took as a buyout from his family farm. They have grown the business to its current size of 2500 breeding ewes in 2022. In 2017 they had the opportunity to take on a 1600ac arable unit and expanded the farm into a mixed arable/sheep enterprise with the largest unsecured agricultural loan HSBC had ever given. In 2022 they start a new enterprise sheep milking! Initially only 300 ewes but next year's target is 600 ewes. He employs three full time staff and would be utterly lost without them.
